CONCORD, N.C. — A 75-year-old Concord man has been charged with multiple sex crimes involving children, deputies said.
The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office began investigating in April and found several victims who said they were abused by Merle Overcash from January 1976 through April 2021.
Overcash was charged with one count of first-degree rape of a child, one count of second-degree rape, one count of second-degree sexual offense, six counts of indecent liberties with a child and three counts of crime against nature.
He is being held at the Cabarrus County Detention Center with bail set at $2 million.
This is an ongoing investigation. No other details have been released.
