ALBEMARLE, N.C. — A Confederate statue in Albemarle was vandalized overnight.

The Albemarle police chief told Channel 9 that a quote and the words “black lives matter” was spray-painted between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday on the statue at West Main Street and South Depot Street.
