CHARLOTTE — Cook Out’s spinoff taco concept appears headed to Charlotte — but little is known about the brand.

Cook Out apparently cooking up a new restaurant concept in North Carolina

Filings with the city of Charlotte in late May indicate that Cook Out-N Tryon St. Inc. is planning a Taco Roo’s location at 9605 N. Tryon St. The project is described as a 1,820-square-foot taco restaurant.

The Cook Out team first opened a concept called Taco Roo’s in Wilmington in 2020. That location has since closed, according to Instagram. CBJ sister publication the Triangle Business Journal reports that another concept, named Roo’s Chicken, is planned for Raleigh at the site of a former KFC.
