SALISBURY, N.C. — Crews responded to a three-alarm fire Wednesday afternoon in Salisbury at Okey Dokey General Store at 126 East Innes Street.
Officials said they brought in several fire departments because of the age of the building and the possibility inclement weather would hamper their firefighting efforts.
Heavy smoke started showing just before 4 p.m., said Salisbury Fire Department Chief Bob Parnell.
The store was closed but employees were working in the basement.
Fifteen engines responded to the store built in 1921.
No injuries were reported.
Investigators said the fire was accidental and was caused by faulty wiring.
