DALLAS, N.C. — Dallas police arrested inmate Jacob Hilton on Saturday at 4:45 p.m. following his escape from the Gaston Correctional Center early Saturday morning.
Police found Hilton walking along the Dallas-Stanley Highway about four miles from the center.
Hilton, 22, was serving three and half years for possession of a firearm by a felon and numerous counts of breaking and entering and larceny.
He had no pending charges and was scheduled for release in October.
Hilton is now charged with escaping from a state prison and is being held with without bond.
