Mother says daughter sent home for wearing sundress to NC school

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A mother told ABC-affiliate WTVD her daughter was in tears after being sent home from high school for wearing an outfit deemed inappropriate.

Veronica Ferry told WTVD she was berated by administrators at Clayton High School for wearing a sundress and jacket with denim shorts underneath.

COMMENT on Facebook: Do you think she should have been sent home for wearing this outfit?

"I just felt like the teachers were disappointed and that I didn't have any self-respect," she said. "And they just talked to me in like a mean and degrading way."

Veronica Ferry's mother said her daughter has worn the outfit to school and church and she's never had a problem.

Johnston County Schools said they are looking into the incident.
