Denver’s first brewery makes debut despite pandemic

DENVER, N.C. — It wasn’t the opening Royal Bliss Brewing Co. planned.

Owners Larry and Ginger Griffin had invitations in hand for a grand-opening celebration April 1 at their Denver brewery. Then COVID-19 shut down taprooms across North Carolina.

The couple had invested more than $2 million into their 6,500-square-foot brewery and taproom. It’s located in the Shoppes at Waterside Crossing, at the intersection of N.C. 73 and N.C. 16.

“Not opening was never an option. We had this beer brewed. We were days from opening,” Larry says. “We backed up and said we’ve got to start canning.”
