RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Richland County deputies said a man set a puppy on fire in a church parking lot, killing the animal.
Sheriff's Sgt .Brittany Jackamonis said in a news release that a witness called 911 after seeing a man burn the 10-week-old pit bull puppy around 7 p.m. Saturday in a parking lot near Irmo.
Investigators said the man was gone by the time firefighters and deputies arrived. He has not been found.
Jackamonis said the puppy was rushed to an emergency veterinarian, but died from its injuries.
A $2,000 reward is being offered for anyone who can provide information that leads to the identification and arrest of the perpetrator.
