Deputies: Pharmacy robbed in Lake Wylie

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — York County sheriff's deputies are still looking for a masked man who robbed a pharmacy at gunpoint as it opened for business Monday morning.

Deputies surrounded the entrance of Lake Wylie Pharmacy on Highway 49 with crime scene tape and the business was closed for several hours.

A man in dark clothes and a mask walked in with a gun right as the shop was opening around 9 a.m.

Jack Allen runs the post office next door, and told Channel 9 nothing shocks him anymore.

"I'm not surprised. Everything today is get it fast, do it anyway, without having to work for it," he said.

York County sheriff's deputies said the gunman took unidentified prescription pain killers and ran out the door. No one was hurt.

Deputies brought K-9 officers and picked up a trail near the shopping center but later lost it.

Several customers said they were saddened to hear what happened.

Lake Wylie Pharmacy owner Larry Meek did not want to comment about the robbery.

The only description of the robber deputies released was that he's a white man about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a slim build.  Sheriff's deputies said they do not have surveillance video to release of the crime.
