HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — It appears a developer is considering a Huntersville site for a large new residential project.

The town of Huntersville is holding a predevelopment meeting on Wednesday for a proposal from Wood Partners to rezone a 19.5-acre site off Old Statesville Road. The rezoning would allow for the development of a project that calls for approximately 337 residential units, town documents state. The hearing is a preliminary action that could precede a formal rezoning request from Wood Partners, which would then have to go through the rezoning process with the town if it chooses to move forward.

“Items that go before the Pre-Development Group do not always move forward, though most do,” David Peete, principal planner for Huntersville, told the Charlotte Business Journal via email. “If the applicant ‘hears what they need to hear’ during the meeting, we will work with them to submit a full rezoning package.”
