Development in Huntersville tied to Michael Jordan’s race team approved

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — A major project in Huntersville just took a critical step forward.

On Monday evening, the Huntersville Board of Commissioners approved the rezoning for a mixed-use project proposed by Palillo Holdings LLC. The development will be built on a 37.2-acre site at the corner of Statesville and Hambright roads, just off Interstate 77.

It could be the new home of a marquee tenant.

Town documents show that one of the plans for the project includes a headquarters for 23XI Racing. The race team is owned by Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan and NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin, with Bubba Wallace behind the wheel.
