Downed power lines close busy south Charlotte intersection, CMPD says

CHARLOTTE — A south Charlotte intersection was closed Friday morning due to downed power lines.

The intersection of Sharon Road and Sharon Lane was blocked after a crash was reported around 6 a.m.

Then, just before 7 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said the intersection would be closed because of downed lines. Drivers were asked to use caution while driving in the area.

A Channel 9 crew could see the power lines in the road and traffic cones blocking off the area.

Duke Energy reported five outages in the area as of 7 a.m. due to the crash. Power was expected to be restored by 10 a.m., according to Duke Energy.

No injuries were reported, paramedics said.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
