CHARLOTTE — A man who died after crashing into a power pole Thursday night in southwest Charlotte had been shot several times, police said.
Detectives said the crash happened around 10:15 p.m. along Arrowood Road near Interstate 77.
When they got to the crash scene, officers found a black Mercedes that had crashed off the roadway into a power pole. They quickly realized that the driver, 25-year-old Kharee Cartwright, had been shot multiple times.
Paramedics rushed him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
CMPD is investigating the death as a homicide.

Arrowood Road was blocked on the west side of the entrance to I-77 throughout the night and early Friday as crews worked to repair the downed power pole.
No arrests have been made and no other information has been released.
