Charlotte driver warns of library parking policies

Library towing

CHARLOTTE — One driver is warning others to obey the parking signs at Charlotte-Mecklenburg libraries.

She told Action 9 attorney Jason Stoogenke she parked at the University City branch. Posted outside are signs that detail its policies, saying parking is only for library workers and customers during open hours.

There is no parking when the library is closed, yet the driver went anyways. She says she knew the rules but didn’t think anyone enforced them.

“It was probably less than 30-45 minutes, and I came back and my car was completely gone,” she said.

She says the tow company charged her more than $300 to retrieve her vehicle.

The company told Jason the price was in line with what other companies in Charlotte charge.
