Drugs, cash seized from woman's truck following Lincoln County chase

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — A woman led Lincoln County deputies on a vehicle chase Friday afternoon after they attempted to serve her with outstanding warrants.

Officers went to a home on Charleston Trail in Cherryville, but no one answered the door, deputies said.

Before deputies left, they saw a truck driven by 29-year-old Hayley Boyles Gantt speeding away. The 5-mile chase ended on East Stagecoach Road near Lawndale.

Gantt is on supervised probation for drug charges, officers said.

Gantt was arrested, and methamphetamine, opioids, marijuana, cash and various items of drug paraphernalia were seized from the truck.

She is charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance schedule VI, two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance schedule II, two felony counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, one felony count of probation violation and one misdemeanor count of speeding to elude arrest.

Gantt was taken to the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center where she is being held without bond.
