CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Duke Energy Foundation plans to make $1 million in grants for social justice and racial equity on behalf of its electric and natural gas utilities this summer.
The grants will be made in the seven states where Duke Energy Corp. (NYSE: DUK) owns utilities — the Carolinas, Florida, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee.
The foundation will work with nonprofits it is already involved with on programs to encourage diversity, equity and inclusion. But it will focus more specifically on justice and access issues.
The Charlotte-based company will also be asking its employees in each state to identify candidates for grants in their communities.
