Early July eyed for debut of first slot machines at Kings Mountain casino

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — The Catawba Indian Nation has zeroed in on a time frame to open its pre-launch facility at the Catawba Two Kings Casino Resort in Kings Mountain.

Tribal Administrator Elizabeth Harris told the Charlotte Business Journal on Tuesday that the tribe was targeting early July for the opening. The pre-launch facility is expected to include 500 slot machines and operate while the full casino resort is being built. An exact date will be announced “very soon,” she said. That opening date will depend on the weather in the coming weeks and its effect on the construction schedule, Harris said.
