YORK COUNTY, S.C. — York County council members talked about an economic development project Monday night, which is slated to bring nearly $1 billion to the county.

The company located outside of South Carolina is being referred to as Project Cobra.

It could bring a data center to the Lake Wylie area and would create about 12 full-time jobs over eight years.

In exchange, they’d receive tax incentives from the county.

Officials said that despite the small number of jobs created, the high-dollar investment in the county qualifies the company for tax incentives.

Council will discuss and vote on this issue again at a meeting on June 20.
