STATESVILLE, N.C. — An explosion near a metal shredder caused a fire at a metal recycling plant in Statesville on Wednesday.
The explosion happened just before 11:30 a.m. at L. Gordon Iron and Metal on Salisbury Road in Statesville.
Channel 9′s Almiya White spoke with the owner of the company who said he heard a large boom close to one of the shredders this morning.
According to Iredell Emergency Communications, a worker was hurt in the explosion.
Officials have not released the cause of the explosion or the status of the injured worker.
