CHARLOTTE, N.C. — If you've tried to talk with someone wearing a mask, you know it can be hard to understand them.
It’s even more difficult for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or hearing impaired.

With the growing push for more people to protect themselves and each other, face masks have created another barrier.
Jennifer Mulherin has loss 70% of her hearing in one ear and 50% in the other.
When Channel 9 asked how reliant she is on being able to lipread, she responded, “I would say it’s the sole reason why I can communicate.”
