CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte father is warning parents about a type of social media he said could expose children to graphic images.
Mark Bink told Channel 9 about the pornographic picture his 10-year-old daughter received through the app Kik.
"I'm like, 'Oh, my God.' First thing I did was start questioning what happened," Bink said.
The message contained a pornographic picture of adults.
"When you see something you can't push delete, that's in your mind and it stays there," Bink said.
Kik is an instant messaging app for cellphones where anyone can communicate.
The middle school girl said the sender claimed to be a 15-year-old male named Steve but the profile picture contained a pornographic image.
"I felt like I wasn't supposed to be seeing this and it could bring me in to a dangerous position," the daughter said.
Bink believes the person is an adult preying on children.
"This guy is out there looking," Bink said. "He's looking for kids."
Bink filed a report with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
They told him finding the sender is challenging because his daughter deleted the message.
