Fire breaks out at southwest Charlotte house

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — No injuries were reported after a two-story house caught on fire Friday night at 1337 Land Grant Road in southwest Charlotte, officials said.

The owner's son was inside the house when it started but made it out safely.

Heavy fire, which was showing when firefighters arrived, took 25 minutes to control.

The damages are estimated to be between $85,000 and $100,000.

The cause of the fire is being investigated and the Red Cross is helping the four people who live in the house.

Neighbors told Channel 9 that they were concerned for the owner, and would try to help as much as they can.

“This is a deep concern for everybody in the whole neighborhood coming together and wanting to see what we can do to help and assist. It’s tragic that it happened to such a sweet lady. We'll all band together and make things easier for her," neighbor Wes Knowles said.
