CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Firefighters packed Duke Energy's high-rise building Tuesday to honor first responders, who died on 9/11.
Close to 400 men, women and children ran up the 1,203 steps to the top of the 50-floor, 786-foot uptown skyscraper.
The fourth annual Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers climb run was named after Siller, a New York firefighter who was among the first responders who died on 9/11.

“What's most special about this is people in Charlotte are remembering what happened on 9/11 and all the thousands of people who died that day, including the first responders,” said Liz Curtis, with the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Charlotte Foundation.
The run helps raise money for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which supports military, first responders and their families.
