Firefighters respond to early morning fire at University City apartment complex, department says

CHARLOTTE — Firefighters with the Charlotte Fire Department responded to an early morning fire at a University City apartment complex on Wednesday.

The department went to a working structure fire on Northbend Drive near North Tryon Street.

Channel 9 photographer Carvon Harrington was at the scene where fire trucks crowded the parking lot and emergency personnel worked fast to contain and put out the fire.

According to the department, the crews were able to put the fire out safely.

Channel 9 has reached out to MEDIC to see if anyone was hurt.

The department has not said what caused the fire or if anyone was displaced.
