5 CMS schools rank in top national public high schools

NORTH CAROLINA — The U.S. News released rankings on top public high schools by state and nationwide Tuesday.

The rankings include data on more than 21,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Schools were recognized based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.

Five Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools made the list, as well as two schools from Union County.

Below are the rankings of schools in our area:

11 - Marvin Ridge (358 national)
14 - Providence (495 national)
15 - Ardrey Kell High (547 national)
16 - Lake Norman Charter (558 national)
19 - Gaston College Preparatory (869 national)
20 - Cuthbertson High (921 national)
21 - Highland School of Technology (962 national)
22 - Butler (1012 national)
27 - Northwest School of the Arts (1267 national)
30 - Phillip O'Berry Academy of Technology (1558 national)
38 - Central Cabarrus High School (2201 national)

Nations Ford High School in Fort Mill ranked fifth in South Carolina.
