CHARLOTTE, N.C. — University of South Carolina and University of North Carolina fans were everywhere Friday morning in the Charlotte Douglas Airport.
Airline tickets to the Final Four in Phoenix were going for more than $1,000 before they sold out.
One Gamecock fan said he would not be able sit on the plane next to his wife because his flight was completely full.
Fans said they went to great lengths to make arrangements for this weekend.
One Tar Heel fan from Shelby said she won her tickets from a casino.
Two USC fans said they've been Gamecock Club members for more than 20 years and are excited for the opportunity to see their team in the Final Four for the first time ever.
“It's totally worth it to see North Carolina and South Carolina in the same place for the Final Four. It may never happen again,” Gamecock fan Allyn Lunsford said.
American and Southwest Airlines said earlier this week that they would not add any more flights to Phoenix.
Some UNC students who were lucky enough to get a flight on Friday, said their friends started driving to Phoenix on Thursday.
