MINT HILL, N.C. — A former Charlotte-Mecklenburg school teacher, that police first started investigating 10 months ago, is now facing new charges for sexual misconduct with a child.
Terrell Williams has already bonded out of jail after officers arrested him on Wednesday. Officials said he turned himself into the sheriff’s office after facing new charges.
Those charges include indecent liberties with a child and indecent liberties with a student.
Channel 9′s Elsa Gillis first reported on Williams in January when he was a teacher at Northeast Middle School in Mint Hill.
In February, he was charged with indecent exposure and sex offense. That month, he also resigned from the school and is no longer with the district.
At this beginning of the year, the district told parents that an active criminal investigation was underway after a teacher may have participated in inappropriate contact on social media with a student. But the district did not confirm that the incident was tied to Williams.
The Sheriff’s Office said that CMS Police Department is the agency investigating the new charges. Channel 9 has reached out the district for more information and have not heard back at this point.
