GASTONIA, N.C. — Two men charged with killing a Gastonia man will spend up to seven years behind bars.

Jeremiah Ingle and Richard Graham both accepted pleas Thursday, almost a year after police say they shot and killed Tim Philbeck while he was helping a friend free a car that was stuck in the mud.

Prosecutors say Ingle and Graham shot at him as he tried to drive away with his friend.

They’re charged with voluntary manslaughter and felony assault.
