CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A gun was found on the property of a Charlotte school on Thursday.
A teacher assistant said she found the unloaded .22 caliber gun in some bushes under some leaves.
The gun was found on the grounds of Collinswood Language Academy around 3 p.m.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police did respond to the incident. There is no indication whether any students were involved.
Police said they are working to find out if the gun was stolen.
An automated message was send out to parents letting them know about the gun.
Police said the case remains under investigation.
The school is kindergarten through eighth-grade located on Applegate Road off Scaleybark Road.
