GRANDFATHER MOUNTAIN, N.C. — A hiker on Grandfather Mountain was rescued after what crews called a “significant fall” Saturday afternoon, Channel 9 has learned.
Crews with the Linville Central Rescue Squad said they were called to Grandfather Mountain around noon after a hiker fell.
The rescue squad found the victim and had to call a helicopter to help rescue the hiker. The agency shared videos of the rescue on its Facebook page.
The hiker wasn’t immediately identified. They were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, but their current condition wasn’t made available.
