Homicide victim's girlfriend's sister a suspect

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police said last Friday that Michael Shull was robbed and slain on his way to pick up his girlfriend.

Thursday, Eyewitness News learned that Shull's girlfriend is the sister of one of the suspects.

Ashley Owens, Davonta Turner and Aveance Bryant were all in court.

Shull was on his way to pick up his girlfriend last Friday and to do some Christmas shopping when the three attacked him, and according to police, beat and stabbed him to death.

Thursday, Eyewitness News learned that Aveance Bryant is the sister of Shull's girlfriend.

Bryant's mother on Thursday was struggling to come to terms with what happened following her daughter's court appearance.

According to Shull's obituary, his family moved to North Carolina 14 years ago from Tennessee so that he could attend the N.C. State School for the Deaf.

Shull had recently started a job as a mechanic.
