After discovering a defect with vehicle’s battery system, Honda is recalling 1.5 million Accord models globally.
The automaker said the recall is linked to four reports of engine fires.
The recall covers cars from 2013 to 2016 and is related to the older Accords 12-volt sensor that monitors the vehicle’s battery charge. Moisture or road salt could cause erosion or electrical shorting, which can result in the engine smoke or a fire.
Because of the size of the recall, the process will take time; however, they are unsure how long it will take. Honda will repair vehicles for free and notify owners when they can visit local dealerships.
