Hopewell HS gym teacher accused of indecent liberties with student at school

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Huntersville police arrested a teacher after they said he engaged in inappropriate contact with a student at Hopewell High School.

Police said David Allison, 26, engaged in inappropriate texting and physical contact on school campus during normal school hours.

The 15-year-old student reported the alleged inappropriate activity to a school counselor.

The victim told police Allison sent flirtatious texts outside of school and on one occasion engaged in inappropriate physical contact.

"He had been sending inappropriate texts back and forth to a student that he was the teacher of, as well as there was one incident that he actually had touched the student over the clothes," said Huntersville Police Capt. Barry Graham.

Some parents were upset to hear about the arrest.

"It's disgusting, Mary Ellen Michelle said. "They're adults they should know better and they're preying on young children."

Allison was charged with taking indecent liberties with a student.

CMS officials said Allison has been suspended with pay.

Officials said he has been a teacher at the school since 2012.  He was a PE teacher and assistant baseball coach.
