CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Hornets fired their radio play-by-play broadcaster, John Focke, after the organization investigated language he used in a now-deleted tweet in August.
Focke used a racial slur while tweeting about the Jazz-Nuggets playoff game. He has since deleted the tweet and apologized, saying it was a typo.
The Hornets released a statement Thursday, saying he will not return after a violation of the organization’s social media policy.

Focke said he made a "horrific error" and had no intention of ever using "that word."
He went on to say, "I take full responsibility for my actions. I have been sick to my stomach about it ever since. I'm truly sorry that this happened and I apologize to those I offended."
