‘A huge relief’: Nonprofit surprises Channel 9 viewer with wheelchair van donation

CHARLOTTE — Years after a tragic accident, a Charlotte family received a heartwarming surprise on Wednesday.

T’Kaiya Massey’s life was changed forever when she nearly died at just 11 years old. Now, she’s bound to a wheelchair and her family has struggled to get where they need to go.

“I’ve been dealing with this and other issues for several years now,” her mother, Keanna Massey, said. “As she got grown and become a woman, now it’s hard for me to physically move her. I swallowed my pride and said, ‘You know what? I’ve got to get me a van.’”

Keanna Massey said she heard about the South Carolina nonprofit All Things Possible while watching Channel 9. She reached out and on Wednesday the nonprofit surprised the Massey family with a new wheelchair-accessible van.

“A huge relief -- this is 80% of my issue so it will help a whole lot,” Keanna Massey said. “A whole lot.”
