Hyundai rolls out plans to help car owners who became target of thieves

CHARLOTTE — Hyundai is trying to help owners of its cars who have become targets for thieves.

The Korean carmaker is partnering with AAA to issue new and renewal policies for eligible customers. Hyundai is also expediting the rollout of a free anti-theft software program.

“AAA is about taking care of people,” said Marshall Doney, CEO and President for AAA, Inc. “Collaborating with Hyundai on this issue to help provide customers with a viable solution felt like a natural fit for us.”

For the last few months, Channel 9 has reported on a Tik-Tok challenge that shows thieves how to steal a Kia or Hyundai without a key. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department hosted a free steering wheel locking giveaway to cut down on the thefts.
