CHARLOTTE — The victim in a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian that took pace Saturday has been identified.
Police responded to a hit-and-run collision with personal injury call for service in the 1200 block of North Tryon Street around 5:43 p.m.
When they arrived, they found an unresponsive pedestrian, 56-year-old Howard Charles Pomnitz, III, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle involved, a black Chevrolet Cruze, was last seen traveling north on North Tryon Street.
Speed did not appear to be a factor in the crash, and it is currently unknown if impairment was a factor for the driver.
The investigation into this case is ongoing.
