GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Gaston County authorities have made an arrest in a violent crime against at child.
Investigators arrested Jason Michael Moore and charged him with killing a 3-month-old girl.
Lowell police and Gaston County deputies started investigating the case two weeks ago.
They said they received a call about possible child abuse involving a 3-month-old girl.
She had severe head injuries and was eventually sent to Carolina's Medical Center in Charlotte, police said.
She died several days later.
Moore has been charged with first-degree murder and two counts of felony child abuse.
Investigators said he was a friend of the girl's mother and had been a baby sitter.
They are not saying how the girl was hurt or what may have prompted it.
