IREDELL COUNTY, N.C.,None — A Mooresville man was recently arrested on a statutory rape charge.
Terry Joe Carson, 22, of Cliffview Road, Mooresville, was charged with statutory rape of a person who is 13, 14 or 15 years old and indecent liberties with a child. His bond was set at $100,000.
Iredell Sheriff Phil Redmond said the arrest came after a 13-year-old girl reported that she was sexually assaulted in early February. The girl told authorities that she and Carson were acquaintances.
Detective Sgt. Amy Dyson of the ISCO Special Victims Unit began an investigation, and the girl was interviewed at the Dove House Child Advocacy Center.
A warrant for Carson’s arrest was obtained and he was picked up by Detective Sgt. Leah Taylor on Feb. 23.
