K-9 sniffs out drugs during traffic stop; 59-year-old woman arrested

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Iredell County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Levi sniffed out drugs in a vehicle during a traffic stop on Sunday at the intersection of Tomlin Mill and Lentz roads.

A deputy was telling Teresa Kiser Forrest, 59, of 129 Porter Road, Statesville, why she was pulled over when the K-9 unit detected the narcotics.

Deputies searched the vehicle and found about 3.6 grams of crystal methamphetamine, which appeared to be packaged selling. There were also 12 hydrocodone pills, two doses of ecstasy or MDMA, marijuana wax and drug paraphernalia.

Forrest was arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center and was charged with multiple felonies, which include:

  • Felony trafficking opium or heroin by possession
  • Felony trafficking opium or heroin by transport
  • Felony possession with intent to sale or deliver schedule ii controlled
  • Substance (hydrocodone)
  • Felony possession with intent to sale or deliver methamphetamine
  • Felony possession of schedule i controlled substance (ecstasy)
  • Felony maintain a vehicle for the use or sale of a controlled substance
  • Misdemeanor possession of Schedule VI controlled substance
  • (marijuana wax)
  • Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia

Forrest is under a $250,000 secured bond.
