• Kauffman Memorial Ride approaching, volunteers needed

STATESVILLE - A flapjack breakfast and memorial ride for Marcus “Marco” Kauffman will be held April 26.

Kauffman died in the hospital at the end of December after he was shot in the head during a robbery at his Rowan County home. His wife was pregnant at that time and in February she gave birth to Marcus Landon Trace.

Event coordinators are still seeking volunteers for the breakfast and memorial ride. A volunteer meeting will be held on Saturday, April 19, at Golden Corral in Statesville at 3 p.m.

They will go over volunteer duties, sign release forms, and discuss ride staging and event process for Salisbury Mall.

Many motorcycle clubs, car clubs, and police and fire departments are planning to take part in the memorial ride.

If you are interested in volunteering for either the flapjack breakfast or memorial ride, email Angela Lorch at angela.lorch@icloud.com.
