Lincoln County charter school employee charged; accused of stealing students’ medications

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — An employee at a Lincoln County charter school is accused of stealing medications belonging to two students, deputies said.

Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies said the employee worked at West Lake Preparatory Academy in Denver.

Deputies said Holly Lynn Bare, 43, is accused of taking the medication from a cabinet in the school nurse’s office. The nurse told the the principal, who then looked through surveillance footage and was able to identify Bare, investigators said.

The video showed Bare had gone into the cabinet two different times -- once when the nurse wasn’t looking and the second time when the nurse was out of the office.

At the time of the report, deputies said West Lake Preparatory Academy had already started following school procedures in regards to Bare.

Detectives charged Bare with two misdemeanor counts of larceny and two misdemeanor counts of possession of stolen goods. Bare gave a written promise to appear in court after her warrants were served.

Deputies did not share what kind of medication was involved in the incident.
