COLUMBIA, SC — Riverbanks Zoo and Garden says its African lion pride has grown.
Lioness Thabisa gave birth to three cubs on Tuesday. The zoo sent us video of the happy family Friday.
"Animal births always are very exciting for Riverbanks and the community," said John Davis, director of animal care and welfare at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. "Thabisa is being a great mom. She is bonding well with her offspring and nursing is going exactly as it should."
The Zoo also is expecting a litter of little lions from Thabisa's sister, Lindelani.
The lion cubs won’t be available to be seen by zoo visitors until they are about three months old and large enough to be introduced to the outdoor habitat.
