GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Caromont Regional Medical Center has become the first hospital in the region to offer a new type of ultrasound to better detect breast cancer.
The Automated Breast Ultrasound helps doctor find cancers hidden in dense tissue, which may go undetected by a mammogram.
Doctors began using the technology earlier this month.
