Local school makes sure families at Ronald McDonald House feel the love on Valentine’s Day

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte are feeling some extra love on Valentine’s Day.

That’s thanks to students at University Park Creative Arts School, and its “community love” effort.

Students created cards for families whose children are in the hospital to show them some love on Sunday. They even made special video messages.

“And especially in this time when our scholars are learning remotely, it’s really critical they understand that they can still help someone else,” said principal Dr. Regina Boyd.

This is the second year students took part in the project. The art-focused school hopes it shows students their gifts and creativity can bring a lot of joy to others.

“Just to have that little gift, that little card, that little piece of love just brings a smile to their face,” said Kristin Young, with the Ronald McDonald House.
