Local stores say they’re working to keep shelves stocked, stores clean

Harris Teeter said it has been looking into new suppliers and adding deliveries to make sure their shelves are stocked.

It also said it added more hand sanitizer stations at checkout and food service counters. It is also wiping down carts and baskets, as well.

One Whole Foods manager told Channel 9, employees are sanitizing carts and giving them to customers. They also have added a glass shield in front of cashiers to limit contact.

The manager also said the store is making sure shipments continue to run smoothly.

Channel 9 went to Traders Joe’s on Mallard Creek Church Road in University City and saw workers giving hand sanitizer to everyone who walked into the store.

Customers also said they could only get carts after they had been wiped down, as well.

“Here, they’re making sure that you have everything that you need, and that’s wonderful,” said shopper Alma Miller.

A viewer sent Channel 9 a picture Saturday from the Costco on Tyvola Road. It said no returns on toilet paper, paper towels, sanitizing wipes, water, rice or Lysol.
