Lowe’s gives inside look at new South End tech hub

CHARLOTTE — Expect innovation and collaboration to take center stage at Lowe’s Tech Hub in South End.

Mooresville-based Lowe’s Cos. Inc. recently opened the $153 million, 25-story tower at 100 W. Worthington Ave. Its 367,000-square-foot space can house up to 2,000 employees — about half of which have been hired to date.

“Our biggest asset remains our associates — and what the building does is it enables them to do their best work,” says Seemantini Godbole, executive vice president, chief digital and information officer for Lowe’s.

Some employees will work at the tech center full time, while others may have a hybrid schedule.

The tech hub was designed with innovation in mind. The company aims to attract and retain top technology talent by providing space where people get excited about coming to work, says Randy Alexander, director of technology business management.

“We executed a space people could come in and use every area of the building,” Alexander says. “The design, in and of itself, naturally allows people to express their individualism and creativity.”
