CHARLOTTE — Mooresville-based home-improvement chain Lowe’s Cos. Inc. and grocery delivery company Instacart are teaming up for a new service that’s getting its start in Charlotte and Boston.
Instacart will deliver smaller items such as tools, small appliances, light fixtures and garden needs in as quickly as an hour.
It is part of a broadening of industries for San Francisco-based Instacart, which is known for its workers in lime-green shirts perusing the aisles of grocery stores.
The Lowe’s deal is Instacart’s first partnership with a home-improvement retail store.
