Major mixed-use development in the works for 500-acre site in Conover

CONOVER, N.C. — A large mixed-use development is planned in the Charlotte region.

Hunsucker Crossing, a 500-acre development fronting Interstate 40 in Conover, is in the works. It includes a 265-acre industrial park, with the remaining acreage being targeted for multifamily, residential, office, retail and hospitality uses.

CBRE’s Katherine Southard and Tom Evans and the Catawba County Economic Development Corp. are working together to market the site, which is located about 47 miles northwest of Charlotte. CBRE is beginning to market the non-industrial land to residential developers now, said Scott Millar, president of the Catawba County EDC.

The EDC believes the site can adequately accommodate several uses because of the site’s layout and location. The northern portion of the site, which is slated for non-industrial uses, is off Rock Barn Road and very close to Conover’s Rock Barn Country Club.
