DUCK, N.C. — (AP) A man with a tattoo with the number "666" has been charged in the stabbing death of a homeless man at a church shelter on North Carolina's Outer Banks.
Police in the town of Duck tell local media outlets that 53-year-old William Everett Long is charged with first-degree murder.
The say a 61-year-old man was stabbed and killed Thursday morning at the Duck United Methodist Church. Both men were staying there as part of a program run by area churches serving the homeless during cold weather.
The name of the victim has not been released. Police did not know if Long has an attorney.
Authorities say Long has the number "666" tattooed above his left eyebrow. In the Bible the number is associated with the Antichrist.
